Retrosexual, metrosexual.......

Today I was flipping through the New Paper (actually it's kinda amazing I even read that section considering I usually read sports and throw it away) and came across this article that talked about Singapore woman's changing taste from the metrosexual male to the retrosexual male, i.e. from Jude Law to Russell Crowe (not Russell Wxx), facial spa male to alpha male.

Goes on to talk about other things, I am relying on my memory here since I threw it away after all. One thing that stuck in my mind was how this woman said "we want everything" and goes on to paint some silly analogy about how women like their dogs to be obedient (roll over and play dead on command) and yet fierce enough to scare away intruders where the need arises. I am no prophet but I reckon if status quo is maintained, she could be well looking at self-satisfying life ahead if you catch my drift.

Anyway, the article seems to imply that women like their man to be (for lack of a better adjective) more manly. Mr Handyman, fix-it-all instead of Mr Sensitive. Interestingly enough, a distinction made between retrosexual and metrosexual is Mr Retrosexual has poorer personal hygiene. How interesting, you mean the alpha male smells like your gym clothes left in the locker overnight? If you bathe more than twice a day and put on any form of fragrances, you are a destined-to-be-single metrosexual?

Oh dear, things don't seem to augur well for me. Not that I ever buy SKII products or visit male facial spas etc, but I do pay attention to my personal hygiene. Maybe I am somewhere between the two, neoclassicalsexual or something.

Giving in to temptation

Sigh........ I have a confession to make, I was unable to fight it any more, to resist the temptation..... I gave in..... I just bought myself a PSP.
If you live on Mars or Jupiter, PSP is Playstation Portable, the coolest gadget on Planet Earth. Since the first time I lay my unworthly eyes on her, she has captivated me like none other. You must see her in action to behold her beauty, fast paced breathtaking races at 60 fps, in all her glory! Ridge racer at its best, on the move, need I say more?

I know, i know. I promised I wouldn't spend money frivolously but this is different. Its like a virtual necessity. Before you bought your first handphone (if you got such long memories) you were debating for some time whether you needed it, now you can't imagine life without it. Maybe not the best of analogies. I just could not help myself, all logic fails me as I just went for it. I even bought a new bag (i am told its called a side shoulder) so I can carry my PSP with me wherever I go. I think I look like an uber-geek now as I walk and play at the same time but who cares.

As I was telling a friend just now, once me and R saw a roadshow at Funan featuring the PSP. Some models were holding the PSP around letting prospects try it. I just gushed and went "Wow! Ridge racer!" and totally ignored the model rattling on and on. R later asked me what I thought of the girl. "Huh? I totally didn't notice. Did you check out the cool graphics? Real sense of speed eh?" Then he looked like he despises me.

Anyway, I can hardly wait as Winning Eleven, LOTR tactics, X-Men Legends II and Burnout Revenge all loom on the horizon. I think I will abstain from Martell to save up for all these. Unless some genius ah beng manages to pirate this, haha. In case anyone from Sony or Konami or EA is reading this, I am just kidding. Piracy is a crime. Piracy is stealing! Protect intellectual property rights!
